JAKARTA - PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) ensures that crossing services on the Merak-Bakauheni track and the shipping route in the Sunda Strait continue to operate normally amid increased activity at Mount Anak Krakatau (GAK).

General Manager of PT ASDP Bakauheni Branch, Partogi Tamba said that until now the crossing operation is still running smoothly by prioritizing the aspects of safety, security, and convenience of service users.

"Until now, the Bakauheni-Merak crossing service is still going on normally. However, vigilance is still being increased. Every development of volcanic activity, weather conditions, and shipping safety information is intensively monitored with the relevant agencies so that every operational decision can be made based on the actual conditions on the ground," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, July 13.

According to him, the monitoring is carried out so that every operational decision can be made based on the actual conditions in the field while still prioritizing shipping safety.

The Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) noted that Mount Anak Krakatau in the Sunda Strait, South Lampung Regency, had 19 eruptions throughout the period from June to July 2026, with volcanic activity still at Level III (Alert).
