JAKARTA - At TikTok, we believe that Artificial Intelligence (AI) can transform the way people express creativity, discover new interests, and feel safe, if used transparently and responsibly. Therefore, we continue to strengthen various tools, partnerships, and protections that help the TikTok community recognize, shape, and understand their experience of content created by AI.
Today, TikTok is introducing new ways to make this happen, including:
Expanding AI literacy efforts with new educational materials and continued investment in partnerships with trusted experts. Testing improved detection systems to target accounts that upload AI-based spam content that makes authentic works of creators sidelined. Strengthening AI transparency technology and partnerships by joining the Board of Trustees at the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA). Helping Users Understand, Explore, and Create with AI with ConfidenceAs experts have emphasized, education plays an important role in helping people control their experiences with AI. Therefore, we continue to work with industry partners such as NAMLE and Henry Ajder to develop new guidelines that help the TikTok community use AI tools responsibly. We also launched a new hub within the app, where users can learn practical skills to recognize AI-generated content when they search for AI-related terms.
We are also continuing to invest in connecting trusted experts with the TikTok community, including helping organizations such as NoFiltr and the Raspberry Pi Foundation promote AI literacy through TikTok content. Since launching in November 2025, the program has helped various expert organizations reach more than 200 million views through content that helps people understand and use AI responsibly. To date, we have allocated more than 4 million US dollars and will continue to invest in this program to expand its reach and impact.
Strengthening Efforts to Counter SpamEvery day, we see the potential of AI to create new creativity for the TikTok community. However, as it develops, AI can also be misused to produce mass spam content that makes authentic works from creators sidelined.
"We have long prohibited spammy content, and are leveraging technology to detect and remove it at scale from TikTok. In the first quarter of this year, more than 86 million fake accounts were successfully removed from the platform. However, as this type of content evolves, we must also strengthen our efforts in maintaining the integrity of TikTok. Therefore, in the coming weeks, we will test improvements to our detection system to identify TikTok accounts that upload AI-based spam content related to topics that risk affecting the trust and well-being of the community. These topics include content related to politics and current events, financial tips, and health.
Deepening the AI Transparency PartnershipAs more and more creators explore the use of AI, we continue to expand our labeling technology and AI use partnerships to help creators be able to label their AIGC (AI Generated Content) responsibly. Two years ago, TikTok became the first video platform to implement C2PA Content Credentials, a leading AI transparency technology that helps people understand when a content is created or significantly edited using AI. We are also proud to have joined the C2PA Steering Council to help drive the adoption of this technology in the industry.
To date, we have labeled over 3 billion videos as AIGC through a combination of Content Credentials, creator labeling tools, and the invisible marketing technology we have.
Opening the Positive Impact of AIThese updates are part of our broader efforts to protect and empower positive AI experiences on TikTok. We continue to invest in bringing creative AI tools to the TikTok community, such as Smart Split and AI Outline, and testing features such as Manage Topics that allow users to determine how much AIGC content they want to see. As AI evolves, we will continue to share updates on how we are strengthening security, discovery, and creativity on TikTok.
