YOGYAKARTA - The Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) Regional Government (Pemda) is preparing a two-wheeled coffee cart assistance program called "Kopi Darling" (Coffee Around). This facility is presented to support the promotion and expansion of the marketing of local Yogyakarta original coffee products.

The Regional Secretary (Sekda) of DIY, Ni Made Dwipanti Indrayanti, explained that the procurement of this assistance was coordinated directly through the DIY Agriculture and Food Security Agency (DPKP). In total, there are 20 units of mobile motorcycles ready to be distributed to coffee-producing districts in DIY.

"We plan to have 20 units. Meanwhile, the first 10 units will be distributed to three regencies. Bantul Regency is not on the recipient list because it does not have original coffee products," said Ni Made Dwipanti Indrayanti in Yogyakarta, Saturday (11/7/2026) as reported by Antara.

Distribution Schedule and Distribution Target Area

The distribution of the Darling Coffee assistance will be carried out gradually over the next two months with specific distribution targets:

Phase I (July 2026): Distribution of 10 units of mobile motor carts. Phase II (August 2026): Distribution of 10 units of remaining mobile motor carts. Target Region: Kulon Progo Regency, Gunungkidul Regency, and Sleman Regency.

Ni Made explained that this Darling Coffee unit was specially designed using a modified motorcycle. The vehicle is equipped with various supporting equipment for brewing standard cafe coffee, so that it can be operated like a walking coffee shop.

"So on the motorcycle there is already a coffee grinder. Basically it's complete like the equipment that is commonly used by professional baristas," he added.

Prohibition of Selling Saset Coffee: Focus on the Quality of Local Coffee

Through this stimulus assistance, the DIY Regional Government hopes that the marketing of local coffee products will be stronger. This step is also targeted to be able to increase sales value, strengthen branding, and boost the regional economy in the coffee producing area of Yogyakarta.

"Our hope is that local coffee products will be more widely known by the community. Later the coffee can be brewed directly by business actors with the equipment on the motorcycle," said Made.

However, the DIY Secretary of State gave a thick note and a stern warning to the prospective recipients of assistance. He emphasized that the Kopi Darling fleet must really be used to promote the region's original coffee, not the manufacturer's commodity.

"If you make coffee, use local coffee products that are authentic in their respective regions, not instant coffee or packaged coffee. The quality of our local coffee beans is not inferior to other regions," said Made.
