JAKARTA - One of the three workers found dead in the Mabes Hankam Highway manhole, Cipayung, East Jakarta is a Chinese National (WN) with the initials L.

Meanwhile, the other 2 victims are Indonesian citizens with initials A and S.

"They were going to do the installation of the PDAM pipe," said Cipayung Police Chief, Kompol Saut Parulian Tobing, Thursday, July 9, 2026.

When found, the three workers were not wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) while carrying out their work activities.

"When they were picked up using a shirt, long pants. Their safety equipment, I didn't see it," he said.

The three victims were suspected of working on the installation of a clean water pipe belonging to PAM in the area.

"They want to do the PDAM pipe work," he said.

The three bodies were then initially taken to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital for further processing.

Meanwhile, the cause of the death of the three workers is suspected to be due to lack of oxygen. The case is still under investigation by the Cipayung Police.
