PADANG - The investigation into the alleged corruption case for the construction of the Sikabu-Kayu Gadang Bridge in Lubuk Alung District, Padang Pariaman Regency, continues to develop.

The West Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) has again named a project supervisor with the initials IF as a new suspect after finding alleged engineering in the supervision system which is suspected to be one of the causes of the collapse of the bridge with state losses reaching more than Rp7.5 billion.

The Head of the West Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office (Kajati), Dedie Tri Wahyudi, said IF allegedly took control of the supervision work of the project by replacing the supervisor consultant personnel before the contract ran according to the provisions.

The change, said Dedie, was carried out without an addendum mechanism as stipulated in the contract, thus violating the procurement of goods and services procedures.

"The change was made without the necessary addendum mechanism, so it violates the procurement provisions," Dedie said in a statement received by the editor, Wednesday (8/7/2026).

Not only that, investigators also found evidence that IF controlled various aspects of supervision implementation, ranging from payment arrangements, payroll of supervisory personnel, to the preparation of project progress reports.

"Investigators also suspect IF arranging payments, payroll, to project progress reports," he added.

During the investigation process, the West Sumatra Attorney General also found indications of forgery of the signature of the director of the consulting company that was allegedly used for the benefit of project funding.

According to Dedie, these various actions have caused the function of supervision over the quality of work not to run as it should.

As a result, the quality of the bridge construction was suspected to be not in accordance with the specifications so that it was damaged in a short time and finally collapsed.

"The incident is estimated to have caused state losses of more than Rp7.5 billion," he said.

Dedie ensured that the investigation would continue to be developed to reveal all parties responsible for the case.

Previously, the West Sumatra Attorney General's Office had named three other suspects, namely BB, A, and Y, who were suspected of playing a role in the implementation of the project and the management of activities at the BPBD Padang Pariaman Regency.

For his actions, IF was charged with a number of articles in the Corruption Eradication Law with heavy penalties.

"Investigators also framed IF with a number of provisions of the crime of corruption whose threat of punishment is very heavy," concluded Dedie.
