JAKARTA - The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has again facilitated the transfer of Palestinian prisoners released by Israel from the border to hospitals.

The ICRC facilitated the transfer of 17 Palestinian prisoners released by the Israeli occupation authorities from the Kerem Abu Salem border to the Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, in cooperation with a team from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, quoted from WAFA (6/7).

In a statement, the ICRC said its teams also facilitated communication between the released prisoners and their families and helped reunite them, noting that since 2023 they have facilitated the transfer of more than 2,500 released prisoners through this mechanism.

However, the ICRC stressed that they had not been able to access Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli detention facilities since October 2023, renewing their call for information on the fate of all prisoners and their places of detention, and for access to visit them.

The ICRC stressed that international humanitarian law requires that all prisoners be treated humanely, detained in adequate detention conditions, and allowed to remain in contact with their families.

The ICRC noted that many Palestinian families are still waiting for information about their relatives detained amid growing concerns about their health and well-being, stressing that it continues to maintain dialogue with the Israeli authorities to resume visits to all Palestinian prisoners.

Separately, a medical source in the Gaza Strip said on Monday that the number of deaths as a result of the Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip had risen to 73,098 Palestinians, with another 173,571 injured since October 7, 2023.

The source added that since the ceasefire that took effect on October 11 last year, the number of deaths has reached 1,072, while the number of injured has increased to 3,463. They noted that 799 bodies had also been found during the same period.
