JAKARTA - TikTok introduced its latest series of product innovations at the TikTok Apps Summit 2026. Entering its second year, this event brought together more than 150 executive-level decision makers from app and game companies in six Southeast Asian markets.

Held in Singapore, the forum, which carries the theme "Mini Moments, Max Impact", invites senior industry leaders to explore how the TikTok ecosystem can strengthen the next phase for the growth of the application in the region and drive impact on the entire marketing channel (full-funnel) and AI-based innovation on a global scale.

Based on data from Sensor Tower, the global app economy continues to show strong growth. Throughout 2025, consumers around the world have downloaded 149 billion apps and generated in-app revenue of US$167 billion.

Amid this growth, Southeast Asia emerged as one of the prominent regions, along with changes in consumer behavior and interaction patterns that have driven the region to become a driving force for two rapidly growing categories, namely Short Drama (Short Drama) and Gaming (Game).

"Short dramas have become one of the fastest growing mobile entertainment categories in the world. This category recorded 2.26 billion downloads globally in 2025. This growth continued in 2026, with the number of downloads increasing 140 percent year-on-year (YoY) in the first quarter of 2026. Southeast Asia is at the forefront of this trend, with a contribution of 32 percent of the total global downloads and recording an annual growth (YoY) of 220 percent. Users in this region now spend an average of almost 40 minutes per day enjoying this short story format designed specifically for mobile devices," said Krishan Patel, Country Head, INSEA & ANZ, Sensor Tower.

On the other hand, the global gaming industry also continues to show promising growth potential. Data from the Video Gaming Report 2026 released by Boston Consulting Group (BCG) shows that this market is projected to grow to around 350 billion US dollars by 2030³. The report also highlights the strong and increasing level of player engagement, with 55 percent of respondents admitting to spending more time playing in the second half of 2025.

Turn Attention into Action Through Direct Experience on the Platform

To help publishers and advertisers take advantage of this opportunity, TikTok is launching a variety of new advertising solutions that support interaction with users when users find and enjoy games and short dramas on the For You page (Recommendations).

Directly integrated within TikTok, Mini Dramas and Mini Games provide an in-platform experience that allows users to discover, watch, play, and even purchase episodic mini-series and games without leaving the app. For brands, this format opens up the opportunity to reach an audience with a high level of engagement while creating new revenue sources. From the registration process to the launch, publishers and developers can now present their mini dramas and mini games in about a month.

To complement this format, TikTok launched TikTok Growth Max, the latest automated ad performance solution designed specifically to drive the growth of "Minis" content. This solution helps advertisers grow their businesses within the TikTok ecosystem by optimizing performance across the entire funnel stages, from discovery, deeper engagement, to final conversion.

Encouraging Creativity and Automation for Business Growth

To help businesses produce high-quality advertising materials on a large scale, Dreamina Seedance 2.0, ByteDance's latest generation AI video model, is now integrated into TikTok Symphony, TikTok's suite of creative AI solutions. This model allows for the consistent creation of high-quality videos without requiring manual adjustment processes that can slow down the production process.

This series of creative solutions also presents Reference to Video, the latest video creation feature in Symphony Creative Studio that allows advertisers to provide prompts for specific images or products to be displayed at specific moments in a video. This gives businesses greater creative control over the content generated by AI.

To support the potential for broader development for the industry, TikTok also introduced the TikTok Ads Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server, a new interface that allows developers and advertisers to build AI agents and various supporting devices directly on the TikTok Ads ecosystem. This solution helps the development and management of advertising campaigns without requiring manual intervention.

Complementing this innovation, TikTok also presents TikTok Ads Skills, a set of building blocks that allows developers to build their own AI tools on top of the existing infrastructure. Thus, various key advertiser workflows such as campaign creation, performance analysis, ad material analysis, audience discovery, and budget optimization can be done by developers and publishers more efficiently without having to build a system from scratch.

The Engine of Global Expansion

This moment is an important milestone for the development of the application industry, as the barriers to creating an application are getting lower. With a global community of more than 1 billion users, TikTok is now an important foundation for businesses that want to bring their favorite applications to local markets to grow into major players at the regional and global levels. Data April 2025 and April 2026 show that publishers expanding outside Southeast Asia recorded 2x higher annual revenue growth compared to publishers that only focus on Southeast Asia.
