BANGKALAN - President Prabowo Subianto admitted that he was surprised after seeing various economic data and state governance after becoming president.

In his closing speech at the National Congress of Alim Ulama and NU 2026 Grand Conference in Bangkalan, Madura, Tuesday, June 23, Prabowo said there were many facts that made him concerned.

"I myself am shocked, surprised, sad to see how much of our wealth we have lost so far," said Prabowo.

According to the President, various data show that there are fundamental problems in the economic system that has been running for decades. One indicator that makes him wonder is the continued economic growth, but the poverty rate and pressure on the middle class still emerge.

Prabowo assessed that this condition is not in line with the goal of Indonesian independence which wants to bring justice and prosperity for all people.

He said only a few groups enjoyed the results of economic growth, while some people had not felt the same benefits.

"It means our system is wrong," he said.

Prabowo said his government was trying to fix various leaks and irregularities that made the national wealth not fully enjoyed in the country.

According to him, a nation that allows its wealth to continue to flow abroad will not be able to achieve sustainable prosperity.

Therefore, he emphasized that the main agenda of the current government is to strengthen supervision, regulate practices that are detrimental to the country, and ensure that more development results are enjoyed by the people.
