SAMPANG - The government has placed regional roads as one of the main infrastructures to support the self-sufficiency targets for food, energy, and water.
Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo said road connectivity is no longer seen as a mere physical project, but rather a part of the national logistics system that determines the smooth distribution of production results.
This was conveyed by Dody when reporting the implementation of Presidential Decree Number 11 of 2025 in front of President Prabowo Subianto in Sampang Regency, East Java, Tuesday (23/6).
According to Dody, the road built through the program connects the production center with the market and the community service area.
"The government wants to ensure that the food supply chain runs smoothly from upstream to downstream," he said.
Through this program, the government built 1,151 kilometers of regional roads in 37 provinces with a budget of Rp. 5.41 trillion.
Dody assessed that road development is an important factor in reducing distribution barriers that have so far made logistics costs high and community access limited.
Therefore, the development of connectivity is part of the implementation of President Prabowo's Asta Cita, especially the agenda to encourage national independence through food, energy, and water security.
According to Dody, the existence of better roads will strengthen the relationship between production areas and markets so that agricultural, plantation, and other commodity products can move faster and more efficiently.
"The road inaugurated today is a lever for economic growth and national connectivity," said Dody.
