Considered Too Little, the KPK Revised the Proposed Additional Budget from Rp762 M to Rp999 M, Approved by the DPR

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) immediately revised the proposed additional budget, which was originally Rp762 billion to Rp999 billion after it was considered too small by Commission III of the DPR. In fact, the KPK is advised to submit additional budgets of up to Rp5 trillion to maximize the prevention and eradication of corruption.

"Of course we hope that the leadership and members of Commission III will provide support, we immediately tek-tokan with Mr. Secretary General and the finance bureau. In this case we ask or propose an addition from the 762 billion we rounded or we propose to become 999 (trillion rupiah)," said KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto in a working meeting with Commission III of the DPR at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, June 17.

"This is a very good number, according to us, especially Mr. from the PDIP Faction. So if you combine this indicative ceiling with the leadership, the indicative ceiling is Rp. 1.2 trillion, then the total is Rp. 2.2 trillion," he continued.

Setyo said that if the total budget of Rp. 2.2 trillion could be accommodated, approved and later realized, then the KPK could carry out all activities in the work unit more flexibly.

"Now I'm holding it. Even the leadership, if I go, I say a maximum of two or three people. There's no need to bring a lot of troops like that. Then we consider who the audience is, what the importance is, how long the activity is," he said.

"But we guarantee that in the KPK, if the activity is when the assignment letter leaves, for example, I'm sorry, if the assignment letter leaves on Thursday then it's finished on Friday, then Friday has to go home. It can't be extended until Saturday or Sunday," he explained.

"Because if you come home on Saturday or Sunday you have to pay personal costs because it violates the duty letter issued by the leadership. That is the basis for us so that there are no additions, whether it's accommodation or transportation," added Setyo Budiyanto.

Responding to the request of the Chairman of the KPK, Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR, Ahmad Sahroni, stated that Commission III of the DPR accepted and approved the explanation of the Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for the proposed Corruption Eradication Commission program in accordance with the 2027 Budget Indicative Budget of Rp. 1,232,795,237,000 or Rp. 1.2 trillion.

"And will fight for the proposed additional budget of Rp. 989,305,424,000, so that it becomes Rp. 2,222,100,661,000," said Sahroni.

Sahroni also stated that Commission III of the DPR would convey the results of the discussion meeting on the indicative budget ceiling for 2027 to the DPR Budget Agency for synchronization in accordance with the mechanisms and laws and regulations.
