Iran's Supreme National Security Council Confirms Memorandum of Understanding with the United States

JAKARTA - The Secretariat of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) of Iran confirmed the existence of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) mediated by Pakistan to end the war with the United States.

SNSC emphasized that based on the MoU, wars and military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon, would be immediately and permanently stopped starting Sunday night. In addition, the US naval blockade of Iran would be immediately and completely lifted.

"After several months of difficult and intensive negotiations and based on the resolution of the Supreme National Security Council, it has finalized the text of a memorandum of understanding on negotiations to end the war (Islamabad negotiations) between Iran and the United States on the night of June 14," the council wrote in its statement, quoted from IRNA (15/6).

"Based on the agreement reached, the war and military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon, will immediately and permanently end starting tonight. Furthermore, the naval blockade against Iran will be immediately and completely lifted," he continued.

"The memorandum of understanding will be officially signed on Friday, June 19," he explained.

"Negotiations on the final agreement will begin after the implementation of the other party's commitments based on the memorandum of understanding," the statement said, while appreciating the efforts of Pakistan and Qatar.

As previously reported, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Sunday, "The Peace Deal between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran has been reached."

"Both sides have declared an immediate and permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon," Prime Minister Sharif said in a social media post on Sunday night.

"The official signing ceremony will be held on Friday, June 19 in Switzerland," added the Prime Minister of Pakistan, while thanking Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey for their assistance in the "mediation efforts."

"With this agreement, the mediators will facilitate a series of meetings this week," concluded PM Sharif's post.

"This pre-implementation discussion will lay the foundation for technical talks and the official signing ceremony," he said.

US President Donald Trump then announced a peace deal with Iran had been reached and the United States would end its naval blockade of the country, marking the most significant development in months of negotiations.

"The deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Congratulations to all!" President Trump stated in a post on Truth Social.

In turn, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi said the text of the memorandum of understanding with the United States had been finalized and would be officially signed on Friday in Switzerland.
