JAKARTA - Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Sunday, "The Peace Deal between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran has been reached."

"Both parties have declared an immediate and permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon," Prime Minister Sharif said in a social media post on Sunday night, CNN reported (15/6).

Neither the US nor Iran are technically at war in Lebanon. However, the Iranian Foreign Ministry previously said they hold the US responsible for Israel's attack on Dahieh, a suburb of Beirut, on Sunday afternoon.

"The official signing ceremony will be held on Friday, June 19 in Switzerland," added the Prime Minister of Pakistan, while thanking Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey for their assistance in the "mediation efforts."

"With this agreement, the mediators will facilitate a series of meetings this week," concluded PM Sharif's post.

"This pre-implementation discussion will lay the foundation for technical talks and the official signing ceremony," he said.

US President Donald Trump confirmed the announcement of the Pakistani prime minister a few minutes later. Iran has not officially commented on or confirmed the deal, although Iran's official news agencies and television stations have quoted Sharif's announcement.
