Government Focuses on Helping Kemayoran Fire Victims at Titik Pengungsian

JAKARTA - The government is ready to prepare a location for evacuation at Jusuf Hamka Square, Jalan Benyamin Suaeb, so that data collection and coordination of emergency assistance for the Kebon Kosong fire disaster in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, will be more effective.

Director General of Regional Administrative Development of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Safrizal ZA, stated that evacuation facilities had been prepared with the support of various parties.

"Temporary evacuation sites are prepared so that residents do not gather on the street and can rest, along with logistics prepared by the BPBD in cooperation with the Social Service, PMI, and Baznas," explained Safrizal in Jakarta, Tuesday morning, as quoted by Antara.

Three tents have been prepared from the DKI Jakarta Social Service, and a number of other logistics cars from PMI to BPBD have arrived at the location.

Currently, data collection is being carried out in depth, covering affected residents in two RW, namely RW 04 which includes five RT (RT 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16) and RW 05 which includes three RT (RT 01, 02, and 03).

Safrizal explained that the data would include details on school age to ensure that children's educational needs are met.

After the emergency situation ends, the government will conduct an inventory of buildings and discuss long-term steps for residents. "Later, after all of these emergencies are over, we will discuss what the process is for community residents, including the possibilities if the community wants to relocate to a safer place," concluded Safrizal.

The fire that hit the densely populated area in the Pasar Haji Ung Village, Jalan Kemayoran Gempol, Kebon Kosong, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, on Monday (1/6/2026) evening started at around 20.55 WIB.

The DKI Jakarta Gulkarmat Office deployed 35 fire trucks with 165 personnel to tame the fire, which was allegedly caused by an electrical short circuit.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat), Bayu Meghantara, ensured that the water source at the location was adequate.

"Alhamdulillah the water source is enough," said Bayu.

He also ensured that officers were quick to help residents who needed medical assistance.

"There are indeed several residents who were taken to the hospital because of minor injuries and suffocation due to smoke," said Bayu.

In the midst of the extinguishing process, residents seemed to be moving goods to the Jusuf Hamka Square area.

One of the residents, who is also the Secretary of the Joint RT 12 to 16 RW04 Kebon Kosong, Supriatin, told the panic when the fire began to spread to his house area.

"I just came home from a motorcycle taxi, the fire was big. I panicked because my wife was sick at home," said Supriatin.

Supriatin added that his wife had experienced shortness of breath due to exposure to thick smoke at the scene. However, he had ensured that all three members of his family were safe.

Based on the latest data on the information board, this disaster is estimated to have affected around 250 houses and 330 heads of households (KK).

Until now, the authorities are still continuing to handle and data collection at the scene. Meanwhile, the extinguishing process accompanied by cooling is still ongoing until 02.07 WIB.
