The data was presented in an official report released by the Saudi statistical authority on Tuesday, May 26, as quoted by Middle East Monitor.

The report stated that 1,546,655 pilgrims came from outside Saudi Arabia through various international arrival gates. Meanwhile, as many as 160,646 people performed the hajj from within the country, including citizens and residents of Saudi Arabia.

Based on gender composition, the number of male worshipers was recorded as 893,396 people, while the number of female worshipers reached 813,905 people.

The Saudi statistical authority also noted that air routes are still the main access for the arrival of international pilgrims this year.

A total of 1,485,729 pilgrims arrived through airports in Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, 54,429 pilgrims entered through land routes and another 6,497 through sea routes.
