The fate of the 2027 Honorer Teacher, the Ministry of Education and Culture: We are still looking for the best way

JAKARTA - The Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu'ti emphasized that the government is still looking for the best solution regarding the fate of honoraria teachers or non-ASN in Indonesia.

The statement was made to answer teachers' concerns about the sustainability of their jobs after the ASN arrangement policy was implemented.

In his statement, Abdul Mu'ti asked the public and the media not to immediately believe the information circulating on social media regarding the removal of honorers.

"Please journalists also understand, don't just follow what you read on social media," said Abdul Mu'ti.

He explained that the policy regarding non-ASN personnel refers to the ASN Law Number 20 of 2023. However, until now, the government has not made a final decision regarding the mechanism for further honor teachers.

"Whether they will work again or not, we are still looking for the best way out," he said.

According to Abdul Mu'ti, the need for non-ASN teachers in Indonesia is still very large. Therefore, the government cannot make hasty decisions.

"Seeing the number of teachers that exist now, we will still need non-ASN teachers," he said.

He said that the number of honoraria teachers, which reached hundreds of thousands, made the government have to be careful in drafting the next policy. The current discussion is still being carried out together with a number of related ministries.

"Because the number is hundreds of thousands, the process and mechanism must be discussed together across ministries to find the best solution," he said.

Abdul Mu'ti also ensured that non-ASN teachers could continue to work until the end of 2026.

"Now what I can say, until the end of 2026 they will continue to work as usual. For the future, we will find the best way out," he concluded.
