JAKARTA - The Bekasi Metro Police (Polres) arrested a suspected thief of a motorcycle belonging to a roommate in Kampung Pasir Konci RT 16/RW 06, Pasirkonci Village, South Cikarang District, Bekasi Regency, on Saturday, May 23.

"The perpetrator is a man with the initials MR, aged 31. The perpetrator is currently being detained by officers at the South Cikarang Police to investigate further," said Bekasi Metro Police Chief Commissioner Pol. Sumarni in Cikarang, Saturday, quoted by Antara.

He explained that the disclosure of this case began with the theft of a two-wheeled motor vehicle at the scene of the crime on Monday, May 18 at 05.10 WIB, which was then reported by the victim on the same day at 10.30 WIB.

Upon receiving the report, the officers immediately followed up on the investigation procedure by conducting an investigation of the crime scene, asking for information from the victim and witnesses, and examining the clues from the surveillance camera footage in the dormitory area.

The investigation led to one of the residents of the boarding house who was suspected of knowing or being involved in the incident. Officers then coordinated with the owner and the caretaker of the contract to carry out further monitoring.

After several days of being unknown, the caretaker of the contract finally informed that the suspected perpetrator had been seen returning to the contract house.

"Following up on this information, members moved quickly to the location and together with the contractor guard managed to secure the suspected perpetrator for further examination," he said.

From the initial examination, the suspected perpetrator admitted that he had taken the victim's vehicle and sold it through social media (medsos).

During the handling of the case, officers also seized a number of evidence in the form of CCTV footage and clothing that was allegedly used during the incident.
