JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto said that there was a closeness between him and farmers considering his experience as a soldier and having served as the General Chairman of the Indonesian Farmers' Unity (HKTI).

"I feel close to the farmers because I have been the Chairman of HKTI for quite some time," said President Prabowo Subianto at the simultaneous corn harvest and inauguration of the construction of 10 Polri food security buildings in Tuban Regency, East Java, which was monitored online from Jakarta, Saturday.

Not only because of his experience as the General Chairman of HKTI, his experience as a combatant commander also added his closeness to farmers.

"I was a commander of a combat force, when we went on a combat operation, we checked not bullets, but we first checked if there was rice or not," said Prabowo.
