JAKARTA - The University of Hong Kong (HKU) held the "HKU Indonesia Economic Forum" at the Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

The forum entitled "Co-Creating a New Landscape for China Indonesia Enterprise Development" is a meeting place for academics, government officials, and top business leaders. The goal is to discuss strengthening economic, investment, and technology cooperation between Indonesia, China, and Hong Kong.

The HKU Indonesia Economic Forum was opened with a series of keynote speeches from various key stakeholders, such as Associate Vice President (Global) HKU Prof. Heiwai Tang, Special Staff to the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Dr. Achmad Adhitya, President of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia and President of Bank of China Branch in Jakarta Shangbin Sun, Senior Economist for Fiscal Policy and Growth World Bank, Mehwish Ashraf, Chairman of APINDO Shinta Kamdani.

They dissected how infrastructure development is key in connecting global value chains between the two countries.

The event was closed with a friendship dinner and the graduation ceremony of the HKU-ICC Cohort III program, a symbol of the increasingly close academic and economic relations between Indonesia, China, and Hong Kong.
