Israeli Air Strikes Hit 28 Areas in Lebanon

JAKARTA - A number of Israeli fighter jets attacked 28 populated areas in southern and eastern Lebanon on Tuesday, May 12.

"On Tuesday, enemy planes attacked 27 settlements in southern Lebanon and one populated area in the east of the country," the source was quoted as saying by Sputnik, Wednesday, May 13.

In addition, 20 settlements were also hit by Israeli artillery fire. In the border towns of Khiam and Deir Mimas, Israeli forces destroyed a number of residential buildings with explosives, he said.

The attacks in Nabatieh City as well as in Jibshit and Kfardounin killed 13 people and wounded 14 others, according to Lebanese health officials.

On the same day, two rescue workers were killed by an air strike in the south, the Lebanese civil defense service said.

Two people were also reported killed in two Israeli attacks targeting vehicles on a highway near Jiyeh, about 25 kilometers south of Beirut.

One of the vehicles was said to be carrying food and humanitarian aid for residents evacuated from southern Lebanon, the source said.

According to the latest data from the Lebanese Ministry of Health, Israeli attacks since March 2 have killed 2,882 people and injured 8,768 others.
