Residents of RT 03 and RT 10 RW 08, Semanan Village, West Jakarta, finally got additional access to clean water after PAM Jaya inaugurated a portable water treatment (IPA) installation. This facility was built to close the limitations of the water network, which has not been able to meet the needs of residents.

The inauguration of the portable IPA was carried out on Wednesday and was attended by the Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno. The presence of this facility is a quick solution in the midst of the water supply problems that have been faced by local residents.

Based on PAM Jaya's study, the area has not been optimally served by the existing network. Therefore, additional installations are needed to ensure that quality water supply can be available on an ongoing basis.

This portable IPA utilizes two sources of raw water, namely Anak Kali Semanan and Aseni Dam. There are two units of installation with a total capacity of 4 liters per second, consisting of the relocation of an existing unit from Penjaringan and a new unit that will be built in 2025-2026.

PAM Jaya President Director Arief Nasrudin said this construction was a response to the urgent needs of residents.

"What we are doing today is based on the needs of the people. This portable IPA is an adaptive solution to ensure that the public continues to have access to decent water, especially in areas that have not been optimally reached by existing networks," said Arief, Wednesday, April 29.

He ensured that the water produced had met the quality standards according to regulations, so that it was safe to use for daily needs. In addition, this facility can also be used as a solution during emergency or water crisis conditions.

With the existing capacity, the portable Semanan IPA is estimated to be able to serve around 295 house connections, especially in the RW 08 area.

"So, when this mobile or portable WTP is no longer needed, we will be able to move it to a location that does have a river or a reservoir that will later not be used, we can use it," said Arief.

The DKI Provincial Government also encourages that a similar model can be applied in other areas with similar conditions, considering that the need for clean water is still a problem in a number of points in Jakarta.
