Prabowo prepares 25 thousand cooperatives, claims that corrupt money is transferred to the people

CILACAP - President Prabowo Subianto said the government would inaugurate more than 25 thousand cooperatives in the next few months. Previously, the government will also inaugurate 1,000 Red and White Cooperatives.

Prabowo said the cooperative was not a paper cooperative. He wanted the cooperative to have warehouses, cold storage, outlets, vehicles, and drying equipment.

"Try to open in the history of the world, there are not 25 thousand or 30 thousand cooperatives that can be built and completed in one year," said Prabowo in Cilacap, Central Java, Wednesday, April 29, 2026.

Prabowo associated cooperatives with the free nutritious meal program or MBG. According to the President, MBG has fed tens of millions of people and will continue to be expanded.

He said the MBG kitchen would also absorb the results of farmers and fishermen. So far, many crops have not been absorbed, damaged in the garden, or bought by middlemen at low prices.

"It is impossible for our people to be prosperous if that is the case," he said.

Prabowo said one MBG kitchen could open around 50 jobs. If 30 thousand kitchens run, there are around 1.5 million people working. Cooperatives are also said to be able to absorb new labor.

He emphasized that the people's program funds came from savings and action against budget leaks.

"The money that was definitely corrupt, we arrested. We reallocate, we pour it into the people. What's wrong?" said Prabowo.
