Dramatic Evacuation in Bekasi, 3 Passengers Stuck in KRL Car

JAKARTA - A total of three passengers are still trapped and the joint SAR team officers implemented a rotating scheme to save the victims by cutting the iron of the KRL car series at Bekasi Timur Station, Bekasi, on Tuesday, April 28.

Head of Basarnas Mohammad Syafii said Basarnas personnel and the joint SAR team used heavy extrication equipment to cut off parts of the train circuit that held the victim's body.

"We involve personnel who have special capabilities for extrication. The evacuation process runs simultaneously with medical treatment at the location so that the physical condition of the victims who are still trapped remains stable during the rescue process," said Syafii, quoted by Antara, Tuesday morning.

He revealed that they had to be very careful and work effectively because the space in the KRL car was narrow, considering that part of the head of the Agro Bromo train entered it.

"That way, the inside of the KRL car can only accommodate a maximum of 25 SAR officers including medical personnel.

"What is certain is that we work non-stop without any pause. The personnel we will replace from outside will enter the car, then inside we will take turns. And of course, what we involve are personnel who have the ability to extrude. That's the main thing," he said.

This fatal incident occurred on Monday (27/4) evening at 20.55 WIB, involving the Argo Bromo Anggrek train number 4 trip route Gambir - Surabaya Pasar Turi which collided with a series of KRL at Bekasi Timur Station (BKST).

The SAR team from the scene reported that as of Tuesday at 05.11 WIB, there were still three of the seven passengers trapped inside the train car of KRL number 8, which is a special women's car.

Meanwhile, the three passengers who were trapped were successfully evacuated in a safe condition, the last of which was a woman with the initials S (26) years old and was immediately taken to Bekasi Hospital for medical treatment.

Meanwhile, the total number of deaths is currently recorded at five people.

In addition to evacuating the victims, the SAR team also carried out search procedures to all corners of the KRL car to ensure that no victims were left behind.

All belongings of the passengers found will be collected to be handed over to the police.

The development of the passenger evacuation process will be updated every two hours. This was conveyed by PT. KAI Director Bobby Rasydin who accompanied the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudhy Purwaghandy and Head of Basarnas Mohammad Syafii to reporters in a press conference at Bekasi Timur Station earlier.
