JAKARTA - Minister of Housing and Spatial Planning (PKP) Maruarar Sirait (Ara) ensures that the renovation of uninhabitable houses in Menteng Tenggulun, South Jakarta, is targeted to be completed by mid-June through a collaborative effort.

"The target for the completion of the renovation of this uninhabitable house in Menteng Tenggulun is targeted for June 15 (2026)," said the Minister of Public Housing when reviewing the progress of house renovation and slum revitalization in Menteng Tenggulun, South Jakarta, Friday, April 24, reported by ANTARA.

During the visit, he said that the area, which was previously considered a slum, is now beginning to transform into a kampung gotong royong through the improvement of housing and the environment together by various parties.

A total of 152 houses are targeted for renovation in the program with a cooperative approach that includes financing, implementation, to collective management of the area without relying on the State Budget.

Maruarar emphasized that all development processes were carried out in an integrated manner, including the repair of places of worship, neighborhood roads, bridges, sanitation, and other supporting facilities for the local community.

He ensured that all house renovations were targeted to be completed by mid-June, with the progress of work being monitored in detail based on the number of completed and ongoing housing units.

According to him, reporting progress must use concrete data so that development progress can be clearly measured and facilitate supervision of project completion targets in the field.

In addition to physical development, this program also emphasizes community empowerment through micro business assistance so that residents are able to increase economic independence and welfare sustainably.

The program collaboration involves various parties such as architects, banks, including the Indonesian Navy, as well as other elements that contribute to the development and accompaniment of the community in an integrated manner in the region.

Maruarar assessed that the success of the program was not only determined by development, but also the ability of the community to maintain the results of the arrangement so that the area remains orderly, clean, and does not return to slums.

He is optimistic that the program can become a national pilot in the arrangement of slum areas based on mutual cooperation, which will then be expanded to various major cities in Indonesia.
