JAKARTA - The government has disbursed stimulus funds for the repair of damaged houses in the second phase to people affected by disasters in Aceh Tamiang Regency to accelerate the repair of houses of people affected by meteorological disasters in Sumatra, especially those that are slightly and moderately damaged.
Quoted from the written statement of the PRR Task Force, the handover of the assistance took place hybridly from the Aceh Tamiang Regent's Office Complex, Aceh. The handover was led by Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK) Pratikno, accompanied by Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian.
The two also witnessed virtually the handover of assistance for repairing damaged houses in Central Tapanuli Regency, led by the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Suharyanto.
Previously, the government had handed over the first phase of assistance on February 13, 2026, led by Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno from North Tapanuli, followed by the Minister of Home Affairs in Aceh Tamiang and the Head of BNPB in Lhokseumawe.
In his explanation, the Minister of Home Affairs, who is also the Chairman of the Task Force (Kasatgas) for the Acceleration of Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR) after the Sumatra Disaster, emphasized that the government had prepared a structured assistance scheme based on the level of damage to residents' homes from the beginning, ranging from minor, moderate, to severe or lost.
For houses that are slightly and moderately damaged, he said, assistance is provided through BNPB, namely Rp. 15 million and Rp. 30 million respectively. Meanwhile, handling of severely damaged houses is carried out through various schemes, including the construction of temporary housing (huntara) and permanent housing (huntap) with the involvement of ministries, institutions, and support from non-governmental parties.
"Our principle is to want to provide assistance as quickly as possible, as quickly as possible, why? So that those affected can really repair their houses and also be excited again," said Tito as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, April 22.
He explained that the government implemented a gradual data collection system so that assistance could be immediately distributed without having to wait for all affected areas to be completed. This step is considered important to prevent damage to houses that were originally mild or moderate from becoming more severe due to delays in handling.
On the other hand, the government still opens the opportunity to submit in the next phase for people who have not been recorded, by still going through a strict verification process so that the assistance is targeted.
"So we hope that all those affected can really receive assistance from the government," he said.
Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno explained that the total assistance provided in Aceh Tamiang and Tapanuli Tengah on this occasion was IDR 117.96 billion to around 4,469 heads of households (KK), both whose houses were slightly damaged and moderately damaged.
He revealed that until now, the total assistance that the central government has provided to the people in the three affected provinces is as much as Rp. 654.87 billion for 29,786 households.
"This is assistance for houses that are slightly damaged and moderately damaged for three provinces. So please help those of you who are here, this (assistance) is used well," explained Pratikno.
