Cirebon - The Cirebon City Government (Pemkot), West Java, has handed over the legal process of the alleged credit irregularities case at Perumda BPR Bank Cirebon to the local District Attorney's Office (Kejari).
The Mayor of Cirebon, Effendi Edo, in his statement in Cirebon, Sunday, said that the process of determining suspects to investigations was the authority of law enforcement officers, so that the local government would not interfere.
He emphasized that the case had been ongoing since before he took office, so the handling was handed over to the authorities.
"The determination of the suspect is a process in the Kejari. So, I don't interfere because it has been going on for a long time," he said.
In addition, he said that the local government had also taken steps by handing over the handling of BPR to LPS since mid-2025.
He explained that the decision was taken as an effort to protect customers, although initially the city government tried to save the bank's sustainability.
"By mid-2025 we will hand it over to LPS. If the bank cannot be saved, at least the customers can be saved," he said.
He said that all assets and authorities related to BPR are now under LPS, including the process of managing and settling obligations to customers.
Meanwhile, the Cirebon City Prosecutor's Office continued to investigate the case of alleged irregularities in the disbursement of credit to Perumda BPR Bank Cirebon.
Head of the Cirebon City District Attorney's Intelligence Section, Roy Andhika Stevanus Sembiring, said that so far investigators have named three people as suspects, namely DG, AS, and ZM in the case.
According to him, the focus of handling this case is the alleged deviation in the credit disbursement process which is not in accordance with procedures, not the problem of general credit default.
"Based on the results of the examination by the Financial Audit Agency (BPK), the state's losses due to the case amounted to IDR 17.35 billion," he said.
His party noted that the irregularities occurred in the period 2017 to 2024, related to the provision of consumer loans and working capital to 17 employees of the BPR Bank Cirebon State Owned Enterprise.
The three suspects are now detained for 20 days at the Cirebon Class I Detention House and charged with corruption, both primary and secondary.
