JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has begun to prepare budget efficiency measures in the midst of global economic dynamics. A number of spending posts will be combed over to be diverted to priority needs, including food subsidies and adjustments to the salaries of public infrastructure and facilities handling officers (PJLP).

Head of the DKI Jakarta Regional Financial Management Agency (BPKD) Michael Rolandi Cesnanta Brata said that the current budget tracking process is still ongoing and will be finalized in the 2026 fiscal year APBD changes.

"We will conduct a search, we will comb through all things to see if there are things that are less efficient in the allocation of the budget, whether it is volume, value, and so on. Later we will try to gather first, then we will do it when the APBD Change is made changes," said Michael at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Friday, April 17.

The results of the efficiency are planned to be used to cover the needs of the budget which is still considered insufficient, one of which is food subsidies.

In addition, the DKI Provincial Government will also adjust the budget for the salaries of PJLP, which currently still refers to the provincial minimum wage (UMP) 2025. Adjustments are needed because the 2026 UMP has increased.

"As I said earlier, this is to fill positions such as food subsidies, for example, which are still lacking, we will add to it," said Michael.

"Then regarding the DKI PJLP friends, this UMP is still using UMP 2025 while UMP 2026 has been tapped ahead, our APBD is fast. So later there will be adjustments in the allocation of mandatory and binding budgets," he continued.

Michael added that this efficiency step was a follow-up to the governor's instructions through Governor's Instruction Number 5 of 2025 regarding adjustments to the budget due to reduced transfers to the regions from the central government.

The Provincial Government is asked to prioritize major spending that has a direct impact, compared to supporting spending. In addition, strengthening financing synergies with the central government and collaboration schemes are also part of the strategy.

To ensure implementation, the Secretary of the DKI Jakarta Regional Government, Uus Kuswanto, has formed a cross-regional device team that will oversee the efficiency process.

"We are marking for efficiency in travel expenses, spending for ceremonial activities, spending that is supportive and does not have measurable output, then food and beverage expenses and grant expenses are being exercised to be efficient," he said.

Meanwhile, the Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung emphasized that the budget tracking was carried out to ensure that every rupiah was used effectively.

Even though he is doing efficiency, he assessed that Jakarta's current macroeconomic conditions are still in good condition. The Provincial Government will use this momentum by encouraging economic activity.

"What is clear, in principle, I want to say that the Jakarta macro economy is now very good and we will make breakthroughs so that the momentum like last year will be used this year," he said.

One of the efforts prepared is to encourage sports, business, and entertainment activities to attract more people to Jakarta.
