There is a Revitalization of Bundaran HI Station, Watch Traffic Engineering at MH Thamrin Until May 30

JAKARTA - Traffic flow in the heart of the capital, namely on Jalan M.H. Thamrin, has begun to adjust following the revitalization of the MRT Bundaran HI Bank DKI Station.

PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) officially implemented traffic engineering on the west side of the road which is scheduled to take place from April 10 to May 30, 2026.

The Corporate Secretary Division Head of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda), Rendy Primartantyo, explained that the construction of this project requires a fairly large construction area so that it takes up part of the road space.

The affected areas include sidewalks, bicycle lanes, and part of the road that has now been installed with a work fence.

"In connection with the revitalization work in the area at the Bundaran HI Bank DKI Station into a multifunctional space (extended concourse) and a new entrance, traffic engineering management will be carried out on the west side of Jalan M.H. Thamrin," said Rendy in an official statement, Tuesday, April 14, 2026.

Significant changes have occurred in the composition of the vehicle lane. The road section that previously separated between the bicycle lane, regular lane, and Transjakarta lane is now merged into one unit to maintain the smoothness of vehicle traffic during the construction period.

"Traffic, which originally consisted of one lane for bicycles, three regular lanes, and one Transjakarta lane, will become three lanes of mixed traffic. The implementation period starts from April 10 to May 30, 2026," added Rendy.

This revitalization is a strategic step to develop the underground area of the station.

MRT Jakarta is trying to increase connectivity by building a multifunctional space and three additional entrances spread on the west and east sides of the HI roundabout area.

This new access is expected to be able to open the potential for direct interconnection with the surrounding commercial areas.

In addition to access to stairs and escalators, this project also includes the construction of an elevator connected to the Transjakarta stop as well as a cooling and ventilation tower.

This supporting infrastructure is prepared to support high mobility at the Bundaran HI Station, which serves an average of up to 500 thousand passengers each month.

All of these ambitious project series are targeted to be completed by mid-2027. This development is not just an aesthetic renovation, but a major preparation to support the operation of MRT phase 2A segment 2 to the City which is targeted to start operating in 2029.
