JAKARTA - Australian Prime Minister (PM) Anthony Albanese urged Iran, the US and its ally Israel not to violate the ceasefire agreement.

"Australia wants to see a ceasefire enforced and a resolution of the conflict. We continue to call on all parties to uphold international humanitarian law and protect civilian life," Albanese said in a joint statement with the Australian Foreign Minister on Wednesday, April 8, quoted from The Telegraph.

In the statement, Albanese also called for a full resolution of the conflict in the Middle East after the US, Israel, and Iran agreed to a two-week ceasefire.

"Australia has worked with international partners to support diplomatic efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz so that vital supplies can flow to those who need them, including the most vulnerable," he said.

He also expressed his appreciation for the countries involved in resolving the heating of the regional conflict in the Middle East for about 40 days since the US-Israel attacked Iran on February 28.

"We are grateful and supportive of the work of the negotiators, including Pakistan, Egypt, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia, in advancing de-escalation efforts," he said.
