JAKARTA - The Bekasi Metro Police said the act of severe persecution in the form of pouring hard water on Jalan Bumi Sani Permai Tambun Selatan, Bekasi Regency, on Monday, March 30, was triggered by the perpetrator's personal grudge against the victim.

The police have named three people as suspects, namely PBU (30), MS (29) and SR (24). Meanwhile, the victim is a middle-aged man with the initials TW (54).

"The motive for this chemical attack is based on a long-standing personal grudge," said Bekasi Metro Police Chief Commissioner Pol Sumarni in Cikarang, quoted by Antara, Saturday, April 4.

He said that the personal grudge was admitted by the PBU perpetrator as the mastermind of the crime until he was determined to carry out the persecution of the victim in a planned manner, starting from planning, providing tools and recruiting two other perpetrators as executors.

Based on the results of the investigation, the conflict between the perpetrator and the victim has occurred since 2018. At that time, the victim allegedly humiliated the PBU who worked as an online motorcycle taxi driver.

The dispute continued in 2023 when the PBU's trash can was covered with a flower pot by the victim. Tensions escalated two years later when the victim was said to have looked at the perpetrator sarcastically when passing by to go to the mosque.

"The pain of being hurt for years has encouraged PBU to plan revenge by involving MS and SR," he said.

Initially, the perpetrators planned to injure the victim using a wooden beam. However, this plan was canceled for fear of causing death, given the victim's condition suffering from a stroke. They then decided to use hard water.

November 2025, PBU bought 90 percent sulfuric acid liquid through an e-commerce platform for Rp. 100,000. The perpetrator also bought a black Honda Vario motorcycle for Rp. 13.7 million through a Facebook account with a fake number plate, to a pink-colored ladle as a crime tool.

The perpetrators held several meetings at coffee shops and PBU houses to draw up detailed plans, including surveys of the location of the victim's house and escape routes. After several failed attempts, the watering action was finally carried out on Monday, March 30, at 04.35 WIB.

After carrying out the action, the two executors fled towards the Naga Tambun Supermarket Plaza to throw evidence into the Jambe River stream. They changed clothes in the Grand Wisata area and threw other equipment into the Kalimalang stream.

"The motorcycle used in the action was hidden behind SR's house in Gabus Rawa Village, Srijaya Village, North Tambun District," he said.

A day after the incident, he said the three suspects met at a fast food restaurant in the Grand Wisata Tambun area to discuss the results of the crime.

During the meeting, PBU gave MS and SR Rp9 million in cash as a reward, which was then divided equally between them, each receiving Rp4.5 million.

"The money received by MS has been spent on daily needs. Meanwhile, SR uses part of it to buy household needs such as baby diapers, children's toys and instant noodles with a balance of Rp. 250 thousand," said Sumarni.

The three suspects were charged with Article 469 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code regarding severe persecution planned with a maximum penalty of 12 years in prison. They were also charged with Article 470 of the Criminal Code regarding the use of dangerous substances with additional criminal penalties such as one-third of the main penalty.

"This case is a serious crime and a major concern. We will take firm action against any perpetrators of violent acts, especially if they are dangerous and endanger the lives of others. The legal process will be professional, transparent and fair," he said.
