JAKARTA - The Head of the Information Center (Kapuspen) of the TNI Headquarters, Major General TNI Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, ensured that his party would continue to carry out the peace mission in Lebanon even though his soldiers were hit by artillery attacks.
"The TNI reaffirms its commitment to carry out its duties as part of the mission of world peace under the mandate of the United Nations (UN) in a professional and responsible manner, while prioritizing the safety of soldiers," said Aulia as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, March 30.
He said that the assignment of peace missions was part of the TNI's duty in carrying out the state's mandate to create world peace, in accordance with the opening of the 1945 Constitution.
However, Aulia ensured that the TNI would not turn a blind eye to the safety of its soldiers in Lebanon.
The TNI asked soldiers to increase operational vigilance in their duties, in accordance with the standards set by the United Nations.
While carrying out their duties, the TNI will also continue to monitor the situation in Lebanon to determine the next steps.
"The TNI also continues to monitor the development of the situation on the ground and prepares contingency measures according to the dynamics in the Lebanon assignment area," he said.
As previously reported, one TNI soldier was declared dead and three other soldiers were injured due to artillery attacks while carrying out a peace mission in Lebanon, Sunday (29/3).
Aulia explained that the celebration began with the escalating conflict in the Lebanese region, especially Southern Lebanon.
The escalation of the conflict triggered several attacks, one of which led to the area where the Indonesian contingent of soldiers is located, namely in the city of Adshit al-Qusyar in South Lebanon, Sunday (29/3).
The soldier who died in the attack was named Praka Farizal Rhomadhon. Meanwhile, three other soldiers who were injured, namely Praka Rico Pramudia, Praka Bayu Prakoso and Praka Arif Kurniawan.
"The fallen soldiers are currently buried at the East Sector Headquarters (HQ) and in the completion of the administrative process of repatriation to Indonesia with the assistance of the Beirut Indonesian Embassy," said Aulia.
"Praka Rico Pramudia suffered serious injuries and Praka Bayu Prakoso and Praka Arif Kurniawan suffered minor injuries who are currently receiving medical treatment," he continued.
Aulia himself until now has not been able to explain who the mastermind of the attack is and what his motives are.
"The incident occurred in the middle of an artillery exchange and until now it has not been possible to determine which party directly caused the incident. The investigation process is still being carried out by UNIFIL," he explained.
