GARUT - The Garut Regional Police (Polres) has intensified the implementation of a one-way system to disperse the density of vehicle traffic on the Bandung-Garut homecoming route, Garut Regency, West Java, Sunday, March 22.

Garut Police Chief AKBP Yugi Bayu Hendarto, who directly led the traffic engineering, said his party was trying its best to maintain the smooth flow of vehicles, especially on the main roads that were crossed by pilgrims.

Garut Police together with joint personnel were alerted in the framework of Operation Ketupat Lodaya 2026 to ensure that the homecoming route remains orderly and conducive.

One of the efforts made is the implementation of a one-way system on a situational basis from morning to evening, with priority for vehicles from west (Bandung) to east, namely Tasikmalaya and Garut.

Yugi said that the one-way system had been implemented 29 times, consisting of 16 times on the Limbangan-Malangbong national line and 13 times on the Kadungora-Leles-Tarogong provincial line, with durations ranging from 15 to 45 minutes.

"This is done as a precautionary measure against the surge in vehicle volume passing through the Garut area," he said.

He added that the police force was committed to providing the best service to the community so that the homecoming journey would be safe, orderly, and smooth.

In addition, the public is urged to comply with the instructions of field officers, maintain driving safety, and rest at the service post if they are exhausted.

"We will continue to monitor and regulate traffic flow on a situational basis, including the implementation of one way if there is an increase in vehicle volume," he said.
