Police Stop Ambulance Carrying Hikers in Garut

Garut - The Garut Police have stopped a suspicious ambulance for abusing its function by carrying travelers and goods to avoid congestion on the Malangbong road, Garut Regency, West Java.

"The ambulance was stopped, then a search was carried out," said Head of Public Relations Section of Garut Police, Ipda Susilo Adhi, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, March 19.

The ambulance was stopped by the Garut Police Traffic Unit's traffic jam team, which was suspicious of the ambulance car that was driving suspiciously on the Limbangan-Malangbong national road, Wednesday (18/3) evening.

A number of police personnel, he said, finally managed to stop the car in the Malangbong area, Garut Regency, then an inspection was carried out on the car which turned out to be carrying passengers and goods as public transportation vehicles.

"Officers found that the ambulance was not carrying patients, but transporting a number of travelers along with items such as mattresses, motorcycles, and various household furniture," he said.

In addition to the misuse of the ambulance, the car also does not have valid documents such as the vehicle registration certificate (STNK) has expired, then the driver does not have a Driver's License (SIM).

From further examination, it turned out that the ambulance departed from Bandung with the destination Panjalu, Ciamis Regency or was going to make a homecoming trip.

"The vehicle, driver and passengers were secured by officers for further handling," he said.
