JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has revealed alleged extortion practices involving Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman regarding requests for funds from a number of local government organizations (OPD) in the Cilacap Regency Government, Central Java.

The Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK, Asep Guntur Rahayu, explained that Syamsul Auliya initially targeted the collection of funds of Rp. 750 million from a number of regional devices. The request was then forwarded to the Cilacap Regional Secretary, Sadmoko Danardono.

Asep said Sadmoko then ordered three officials in the Cilacap Regional Secretariat to collect the funds, namely Assistant I to the Cilacap Regional Secretary Sumbowo, Assistant II to the Cilacap Regional Secretary Ferry Adhi Dharma, and Assistant III to the Cilacap Regional Secretary Budi Santoso. The money collection was carried out by asking for a deposit from a number of regional units which amounted to 47 work units.
