JAKARTA - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka responded to the apology made by researcher Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar to the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo regarding his research in a book entitled Jokowi's White Paper which contains information about fake diplomas.

Gibran said Ramadan is a good momentum to forgive each other and strengthen the brotherhood.

"Ramadan is a very good month to forgive each other and to reweave the bonds of brotherhood," Gibran said in a written statement quoted by Antara, Friday, March 13.

He also appreciated Rismon's attitude for having provided clarification and his willingness to review the statement previously delivered to the public. According to him, this step shows the attitude of maturity in democracy.

Previously, Rismon visited Jokowi's residence in Solo, Central Java, to apologize directly regarding his research in the book.

After the meeting, Rismon explained that in the last two months he continued his research by reviewing the methodology used in the book * Jokowi's White Paper *.

"As what I have clarified in the last one or two days, that in the last two months I have continued my research. If you say reviewing, studying all the methodologies that I wrote independently," said Rismon.

He said the research methodology he wrote reached about 480 pages out of a total of more than 700 pages of the book's content.

In the process of re-examination, Rismon admitted that he had found a number of new findings which he considered could be scientifically and academically accountable.

One of the findings presented related to the authenticity of Jokowi's diploma. He examined a number of document features such as emboss and watermark on the diploma, including the absence of a hologram.

According to Rismon, based on the results of the latest study, he concluded that there was no irregularity regarding the authenticity of Jokowi's diploma.

"I also feel hurt by my own findings because I have to honestly say that my findings will be cursed, insulted, and labeled as traitors. But research is research," he said.

Rismon, who is currently a suspect in the alleged defamation case related to the allegation of a fake Jokowi diploma, said his latest findings had been submitted to investigators about a week ago.

On the same occasion, he also apologized to Jokowi and to the public for the polemics that arose from the research.

"Yes, of course, I also apologize to the public. Especially to the parties concerned such as Mr. Joko Widodo. That is the responsibility of a researcher who must be independent," said Rismon.
