JAKARTA - The Traffic Directorate (Ditlantas) of the Metro Jaya Police has given a warning to a mobile driver who performed an attraction by driving zig-zag on the Bekasi-Cawang-Kampung Melayu Toll Road (Becakayu), East Jakarta.

"For drivers who do zig-zag on the Becakayu Toll Road, East Jakarta, we have met. He was given a verbal warning and an educational appeal not to repeat his actions," said Head of Traffic Police (PJR) Traffic Police Polda Metro Jaya, AKBP Reiki Indra Brata Manggala, reported by ANTARA, Saturday, March 7.

In addition, his party has also identified the driver who carried out the zig-zag action on the toll road.

"For drivers who do zig-zag on the Becakayu Toll Road, East Jakarta, we give verbal reprimands. The person concerned has also made a statement of apology for driving the vehicle in a disorderly manner," explained Reiki.

"So, only a warning and an apology were given and they were not detained. We gave verbal reprimands while giving educational warnings," he said.

Previously, in an amateur video that went viral on the Instagram social media @jakarta_siders, five cars were seen driving together in a group on the Becakayu Toll Road, on Wednesday (4/3) evening.

The vehicles appear to be moving from lane to lane in a zig-zag from one lane to another. In fact, in the footage, the cars are seen moving from lane one to lane three in turn.

The dangerous action made the toll road seem closed by the group of vehicles. Although the traffic conditions on the toll road seemed relatively quiet, the zig-zag action was still considered dangerous.

Such driving behavior has the potential to cause accidents, especially if there are other vehicles passing at high speeds.

The action also drew criticism from the public who felt uneasy with the behavior of unruly drivers on the toll road.

"If you drive like that, it is very dangerous for other drivers. There should be firm action so that it does not happen again," said one resident, Indah (29) in East Jakarta, Friday (6/3).

Indah hopes that the police will continue to monitor and take action against traffic violations, so that the safety of road users is maintained and similar incidents do not recur.
