JAKARTA - The PeaceCartenz Operation Task Force (ODC) 2026 arrested Kalimak Wanimbo alias Lalam Wanimbo alias Jengkol Lalam who committed violence and confiscation of firearms at Mile 50, Tembagapura District, Mimika Regency, Papua Tengahpada on February 11, 2026.

He explained that the perpetrator was known to act as an intermediary who connected the victim with the perpetrators so that they could board the TNI vehicle to Tembagapura area.
Upon arrival at Mile 50 Tembagapura, the victim was then attacked by the perpetrators. Two people died in the incident, namely Sertu Arifin Cepa and a civilian named Erman Rustaman died. Meanwhile, another TNI member, Serka Hendrikus, was seriously injured.
He said the arrest of Kalimak Wanimbo in Ilaga was the result of the development of the previous arrest of another perpetrator, namely Nis Kogoya, who was secured on February 17, 2026 at SP 3 Timika, Mimika.
"Nis Kogoya played a role in preparing vehicles used by Jeki Murib and his group to go to the house of the deceased victim Sertu Arifin Cepa and was also involved in planning the violent action," he said.
From the results of the intensive investigation, it was found that Kalimak Wanimbo also often communicated with one of the leaders of the KKB group, namely Aibon Kogoya.
For the two perpetrators, investigators charged them with a number of articles, including Article 458 paragraph (3) of the Criminal Code and Article 479 paragraph (3) of the Criminal Code and Article 468 paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code and Article 262 paragraph (3 and 4) of the Criminal Code and in conjunction with Article 21 of Law Number 1 of 2023.
Both perpetrators are threatened with a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
"We are committed that the state is present not only to maintain peace in the land of Papua, but also to enforce the law against acts of violence carried out by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB)," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the 2026 Cartenz Peace Operation, Brigjen Pol. Faizal Ramadhani, emphasized that the arrest of the perpetrator was part of the commitment of the police in enforcing the law on any acts of violence carried out by armed criminal groups in Papua.
"This arrest is the result of the hard work of the team in the field in conducting intensive investigations and developing cases. We will continue to pursue other perpetrators involved in the Jeki Murib group network," said Ramadhani.
He emphasized that the Cartenz Peace Ops Task Force was committed to enforcing the law firmly but still prioritizing a professional and measured approach to maintain security stability in Papua.
Meanwhile, Deputy Head of Peace Operations Cartenz 2026 Kombes Pol. Adarma Sinaga appealed to the public to remain calm and support the efforts of the police in maintaining security in the Papua region.
"We invite all people not to be easily influenced by misleading issues and continue to support the security forces in maintaining a conducive kamtibmas situation," said Adarma.
