JAKARTA - The Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) has deployed its newest A400M transport aircraft to conduct a system function test for landing based on the Instrument Landing System (ILS) at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Air Base, Bali.
The test function was carried out to test the aircraft's navigation system during landing.
"This ILS test activity is also aimed at testing the readiness of supporting base facilities," said the Head of the TNI AU Information Service (Kadispenau) First Marshal TNI I Nyoman Suadnyana, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, March 3.
I Nyoman continued that the training started from the A400M which departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta to I Gusti Ngurah Rai Air Base.
Upon arrival in the airspace of I Gusti Ngurahrai Air Base, the A400M immediately performed a low approach maneuver for LSI function testing.
"The entire series runs safely and smoothly. Test results show that the navigation system and operational support facilities at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Air Base are functioning optimally," said I Nyoman.
With this exercise, I Nyoman ensures that the A400M is increasingly ready to be deployed in air defense missions in any location.
Previously, the TNI AU also deployed an A400M transport aircraft to transport logistics for disaster victims to Aceh.
The assistance was sent to various locations, including Sultan Iskandar Muda Air Base in Aceh, Soewondo Air Base in Medan, Sutan Sjahrir Air Base in Padang, Sibolga Airport, Lhokseumawe Airport, and Rembele Airport.
