Bengkalis Police in Riau Fired Police Involved in Drug Trafficking Network

PEKANBARU - The Bengkalis Police, Riau Province held a Dismissal Without Honor (PTDH) ceremony by removing the uniform of the Bhayangkara Corps of a policeman after being proven to be involved in a network of narcotics distribution.

The head of the Bengkalis Police, AKBP Fahrian Saleh Siregar, who acted as the Inspector of the ceremony, emphasized that the implementation of this PTDH was a tangible manifestation of the commitment of the National Police in upholding discipline and professional ethics.

"The institution will not tolerate the slightest tolerance for members who dare to violate applicable laws and regulations, especially regarding drug crimes which are the common enemy of the nation," said Fahrian as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, March 3.

One of the members, namely Aipda Asmadi, was forced to return the uniform based on the verdict of the Police Code of Ethics Commission. The verdict stated that Aipda Asmadi had committed a serious violation. Before being fired, he served as an Administrative Officer of the Professional and Security Section (Ba Sie Propam) of the Bengkalis Police. Fahrian gave special emphasis on the function of Propam as the front guard in maintaining integrity, every personnel in the function should be an example for other colleagues.

"The violations committed by individuals in the internal security section are considered a form of betrayal of the trust of the position, so that decisive action is the logical consequence that must be accepted," he explained.

Fahrian said this dismissal ceremony was not an achievement or something to be proud of, but rather a heartbreaking event for the Bengkalis Police's large family.

However, this step must be taken in order to maintain the dignity of the institution, uphold the rule of law, and ensure that public confidence in the National Police is maintained through the cleaning of corrupt elements from within.
