His Son is Charged with Death Penalty, Parents of ABK Fandi Ramadhan Ask for Justice to the DPR

JAKARTA - The parents of a crew member (ABK) from Medan, North Sumatra, Fandi Ramadhan (26) asked for justice for their son who was sentenced to death by the Batam District Court (PN) in connection with the case of smuggling 1,995.130 grams of methamphetamine or about 2 tons.

The reason is that Fandi, who had just worked for three days on the Sea Dragon, did not know anything about the contents of the cargo on his ship.

This was conveyed by Fandi's mother, Nirwana, when RDPU was with Commission III of the DPR and Hotman Paris Hutapea's lawyer at the Senayan building, Jakarta, Thursday, February 26.

"My son applied for a Thai ship. The ship is a cargo ship, offered, sir. Suddenly, I got to Thailand, I was staying in a hotel waiting there. My son asked, 'Why don't we go up and down, Cap?'. He said, the captain said, 'We are waiting for the ship that was offered to us, the cargo ship'.

"Somehow, when I asked my son again, 'The ship is not ready, Ndi. We are ordered to bring this one ship, the tanker'. The tanker is loaded with oil. So my son, yes, come along, sir," said Nirwana.

Nirwana admitted that he was surprised to hear the news that his son was caught for carrying drugs. He was also surprised, when he applied for Fandi, he was promised to work on a cargo ship, not a tanker.

"Follow, the person keeps going up, I don't know where he came from, he got on the boat. It was about three days, I heard my son was caught carrying drugs. So we as parents, we were shocked, sir. How could he carry drugs? The boat could be a tanker? The boat was promised to be a cargo ship. In his work contract, it was a cargo ship," said Nirwana.

Therefore, Nirwana asked Commission III of the DPR to help and monitor this case in order to give a sense of justice to Fandi. Because he believes his son is not involved in the drug network.

"So I as a parent, I ask for justice from you. Help me to solve my child's problem, sir. I ask, sir. Because I asked my child, he didn't know where the goods were, sir. I asked, 'So where do you know?'. 'After the arrest, Mak, I only know that I was carrying drugs'," said Nirwana.

"So didn't you ask?'. 'I asked when the goods came in, our captain was told to pick it up. As soon as I picked it up, I was not feeling well. I told my friends, 'Well, why is this the goods? But we want to bring oil. Don't you suspect?'. 'Why, Ndi?'. 'This is not right anymore. When the ship brought these boxes? This is not right anymore. Who knows if this is a bomb'. That's what my son said, sir," he continued.

Nirwana revealed that Fandi had a bad feeling about visiting the captain while asking what was in the cardboard package on the ship. However, the captain of the ship confirmed that the contents of the 67 cardboard boxes that were operated from the fishing boat were gold and money.

"That's it, this morning he was not feeling well. When the captain came up, he asked, 'Captain, what is this? Let's check it out, who knows it's a bomb'. 'No, Ndi. He said it was money and gold'. So my son continued, 'If it's money and gold, Captain, why did you enter the gate room?'. I don't know what the gate room is, sir. 'Why did you enter there?'. 'Nothing Ndi, let's be safe', he said. As soon as my son said," he said.

Nirwana said Fandi also denied it when asked to remove the flag on the ship. However, the ship's captain did not mind the flag being removed until the arrest by the BNN and Customs.

"Si Fandi was asked again to cut the flag. He denied it again, sir. 'Why did you take off the flag again, Cap? What if there's no problem? As far as I know, when sailing, our ship sails, we can't cut the flag. 'It's okay', said the captain. 'As long as we sail, it's okay, we'll change the flag, it's ugly', he said. My son couldn't raise it up, sir, to take off the flag. It was replaced by Leo. Then it was taken off the flag. That's it, sir, not long after we got the information that the ship was caught. That's my son's story," he said.

On this basis, Fandi's parents asked for justice to the DPR Commission III.

"I as the parent of the defendant Fandi Ramadhan. I ask the leadership of Commission III of the DPR RI to give my son justice, sir. I ask you, how do I ask you again, I ask this, sir." said Fandi's father, Sulaeman.
