Maluku Police Submit Phase I File for Brimob Member Who Beat Child to Death

AMBON - The Maluku Regional Police (Polda) handed over the first phase of the case file in the alleged case of violence against children involving members of the Brimob in Tual to the Tual District Attorney's Office (Kejari).

"This handover marks the investigation process has entered the next stage in the criminal justice system," said Head of Public Relations of the Maluku Police, Kombes Rositah Umasugi, in Ambon, Thursday, February 26, reported by ANTARA.

He said the submission of the file was carried out after the verdict of the Police Code of Ethics Commission by the Maluku Regional Police's Propam Unit on Tuesday (24/2).

The Tual Police investigators accelerated the criminal process by handing over the Phase I Case File (Rantap I) to the investigating prosecutor at the Tual District Attorney's Office.

The case file number BP/6/II/2026/Reskrim was submitted on behalf of the suspect Mesias Victoria Siahaya alias Messi, who is suspected of committing a violent crime against minors that resulted in the victim's death.

Rositah emphasized that the acceleration of the submission of the stage I file was a form of the commitment of the National Police in ensuring legal certainty and the seriousness of the Maluku Regional Police in handling the case.

"Maluku Police ensures that the handling of this case of violence against children is carried out professionally, transparently, and accountable. The submission of the first phase of the file to the prosecutor's office shows that the investigation process is in accordance with legal procedures and we will continue to monitor it until it is completed," he said.

He emphasized that the National Police does not tolerate any form of violence against children and fully supports the implementation of justice and human rights protection.

In this case, investigators framed the suspect with Article 76C in conjunction with Article 80 paragraph (3) of Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection and/or Article 466 paragraph (3) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Tual Police, AKBP Whansi Des Asmoro, emphasized that the entire investigation process was carried out professionally without the intervention of any party.

"Handling this case is the commitment of the National Police to ensure justice for victims and legal certainty for all parties. All stages are carried out according to applicable legal procedures," he said.
