BANDUNG - The Bandung City Police are investigating the death of a student who is suspected of being a victim of a robbery in Gedebage District, Bandung City.
Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Bandung Police, AKBP Anton, said that his party received a report of the discovery of the victim's body and immediately carried out the evacuation process and initial investigation at the scene.
"The indications are like that, but we are still investigating," said Anton as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 25.
Anton said the victim was a male student from Cibeunying Kaler. According to family information, the victim on Saturday night (21/2) said goodbye to go fishing.
However, until the next day, the victim could not be contacted. On Sunday (22/2) the victim was found dead in a ditch or a water pool around the scene of the incident.
He explained that after the evacuation, officers found several wounds on the victim's body, especially on the chest, indicating a suspected criminal act.
Anton said his party had also identified the victim and communicated with the family. The victim's parents are known to have made an official report to the police, so the case is now in the investigation stage to reveal the perpetrator.
From the results of the preliminary investigation, the victim was known to have been carrying a motor vehicle when he left. However, after the incident, the victim's belongings had not been found, namely a motorcycle, mobile phone, and fishing gear.
"So there is an indication that this item is missing," said Anton.
Currently, the police are still collecting witness statements, tracing the victim's belongings that were lost, and investigating the possible motives for the crime in the incident.
