Golkar Mourns, Former South Sumatra Governor Alex Noerdin Dies

JAKARTA - The Golkar Party expressed deep sorrow over the death of senior politician and former Governor of South Sumatra (Sumsel), Alex Noerdin on Wednesday, February 25.

Golkar Party Secretary General Sarmuji admitted that he had received the information. He said, Alex Noerdin had indeed been hospitalized in Jakarta.

During his life, Sarmuji called Alex Noerdin a Golkar cadre who brought a lot of progress in South Sumatra.

"He is one of the governors who has brought a lot of progress to South Sumatra," he said.

Meanwhile, Golkar Party Deputy Secretary General Ace Hasan Syadzily felt lost over Noerdin's death. He prayed that the deceased would get the best place on God's side.

"Golkar Party is very sad about the death of the late Mr. Alex Noerdin. We feel lost with his death. May the deceased be accepted by Him and husnulkhatimah," Ace told reporters, Wednesday, February 25.

Ace revealed that Alex Noerdin contributed a lot to the party of the old palm tree. Moreover, Alex also served as a member of the Indonesian Parliament from Golkar.

"He used to be the chairman of the DPD of the Golkar Party in South Sumatra, leading South Sumatra province as governor and a member of the DPR/MPR RI from the Golkar Party faction," said Ace.

As reported, Alex Noerdin died after undergoing intensive care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Siloam Semanggi Hospital, Jakarta, Wednesday, February 25.

Alex Noerdin was treated at Siloam Sriwijaya Hospital, Palembang. However, due to his health condition continued to decline, the senior politician of the Golkar Party was referred to Jakarta to receive further treatment.

The news of Alex Noerdin's death was confirmed by the family spokesperson, Okta Alfarizi.

"Innalilahi wa inna ilaihi rojiun. Mr. Alex Noerdin has died at Siloam Semanggi Hospital, Jakarta at 13.30 WIB," Okta said in a written statement, Wednesday, February 25.
