DEMAK - Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi has instructed the acceleration of the repair of the Aramco Bridge that has collapsed into the Tuntang River so that transportation access can run smoothly again.

"After the River Basin Agency (BBWS) completed the emergency handling of the embankment, the next step was for the Regional Military Command IV/Diponegoro together with Kodim Demak and Grobogan to coordinate the construction of the Aramco bridge," said the Governor when visiting the location of the Tuntang River embankment that broke in Demak, Tuesday, February 17, quoted from ANTARA.

The Tuntang River embankment, located on the border of Tinanding Village, Godong District, Grobogan Regency with Kebonagung Village, Kebonagung District, Demak Regency.

During the visit, Grobogan Regent Setyo Hadi was present, accompanied by the Central Java Governor on the south side of the road that was eroded, while the Demak Regent Eisti'anah was on the north side, so that they spoke at a distance of about 25 meters.

Ahmad Luthfi revealed that the Grobogan-Semarang Road is the main route as a logistics distribution route, so it should not be disturbed.

"The important thing is that this road can be used first because this is the main route for homecoming," he said.

He explained that there were several steps to handle the incident of the breached embankment, namely short-term and long-term handling.

In the short term, namely the closure of the breached embankment, which will be carried out by the Provincial PUPR Office in coordination with the River Basin Agency (BBWS), in addition to the construction of a bridge to connect the main line.

The temporary closure of the river embankment will be carried out for the next three days. Meanwhile, the embankment reinforcement will be carried out until the following week.

On that occasion, Luthfi will also ask the Ministry of PUPR to normalize the Tuntang river as it was done for the Wulan River.

"The sediment is very high, I will propose to the ministry, because it is the authority of BBWS, at least it will be normalized," he said.

Head of the Central Java Provincial PUPR Office, Henggar Budi Anggoro, said the Central Java Provincial Aramco bridge had been shifted from Pati to Tinanding, Godong. It is scheduled to arrive at the location on Tuesday (17/2) evening.

"The target is, in one week we are confident we can complete the Aramco bridge," he said.

The Tuntang River embankment was breached on Monday (16/2) between 15.00 WIB and 16.00 WIB spread over two locations.

First, in Kebonagung Village it has a length of about 40 meters with a depth of up to 10 meters, and has an impact on a 25-meter road access in Dukuh Wareng, Kebonagung Village which borders Tinanding Village, Godong District, Grobogan Regency.

Meanwhile, the location of the second embankment broke through along 25 meters in the same village.

The impact of the collapse of the Tuntang River embankment caused by high rainfall and water discharge from the upstream of the Glugu river, and the Tuntang River, besides causing flooding in Kebonagung Village (Demak) also had an impact on Tindanding Village (Grobogan) which is located across the road.

The head of Kebonagung Village, Turyadi, admitted that the collapse of the embankment had affected 697 families.

"While the displaced initially had 30 souls, now it has decreased to 15 souls because the water has started to recede," he said.
