China Confirms Trump's Desire to Meet Xi Jinping in April

JAKARTA - The Chinese Foreign Ministry confirmed that it had received information about US President Donald Trump's desire to meet with President Xi Jinping in April 2026.

"During the telephone conversation between the two presidents a few days ago, President Trump once again expressed his desire to visit China in April," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a press conference in Beijing, Thursday (12/2), reported by ANTARA.

The telephone conversation in question took place on February 4, 2026, when the two discussed a number of things, especially about Taiwan.

"The diplomacy of the head of state plays an irreplaceable role in providing strategic guidance for China-US relations," Lin Jian added.

According to Lin Jian, President Xi Jinping renewed an invitation to President Trump to visit China.

"Both parties are communicating about this," said Lin Jian, who did not deny or confirm the time the visit would be carried out in April 2026.

Previously, in reports in US media, it was mentioned that Donald Trump would visit China in April 2026 and President Xi Jinping would visit the US at the end of 2026.

Trump also said China is now buying large amounts of US soybeans, which is good for US farmers.

Meanwhile, in a February 4 phone call, Xi Jinping said China must protect its own sovereignty and territorial integrity, and would never allow Taiwan to be separated. The US must handle the issue of arms sales to Taiwan wisely.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump in a Chinese Foreign Ministry release said he understood China's feelings on the Taiwan issue and wanted China and Taiwan to continue to dialogue with each other and maintain good relations during his presidency.

He also said the US and China are big countries, and the US-China relationship is the most important in the world.
