2 Organic Firearms Belonging to Kodim Mimika Stolen by KKB During Ambush on Soldiers in Tembagapura

JAKARTA - Kapendam XVII/Cenderawasih Letkol Tri Purwanto said that two guns belonging to Kodim 1710/Mimika were taken away by a group of armed criminals (KKB) who shot at soldiers while they were at Mille 50, Tembagapura District.

"Two organic firearms of the TNI-AD carried by the two soldiers were taken by the KKB," said the Head of the XVII Cendrawasih Command, Thursday, February 12, as reported by ANTARA.

He said one of the weapons was a long-range weapon with ammunition.

"Currently, further investigations are being carried out to evaluate the incident. Kodam XVII/Cenderawasih remains committed to maintaining security stability in Papua, as well as providing protection to the community and national vital objects," he said.

Meanwhile, the body of Sertu Arifin Cepa, a member of Koramil 1710-04/Tembagapura, Thursday (12/2), has been buried in Timika, the capital of Mimika Regency.

His colleagues, Serka Hendrikus and Herman Rustaman, employees of KPI contractor, PT Freeport Indonesia, are still being treated in hospital.

"The three were victims of a shooting carried out by an armed criminal group (KKB) which claimed to be part of the Free Papua Organization (OPM)," said the Kapendam.
