Smart Air Pilot's Body Arrives at Funeral Home in Banten

JAKARTA - The body of Capt. Enggon Erawan, the pilot of the Smart Air plane, a victim of the shooting by an armed criminal group (KKB) at Korowai Airport from Tanah Merah, Doven Digoel Regency, South Papua, arrived at the family's house of grief in Ciputat Timur, South Tangerang, Banten.

The body of the victim, who had previously held a ceremony of honor by the Indonesian Pilot Association (IPI) at the Cargo Terminal of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Soetta) on Thursday afternoon (12/2).

Furthermore, the body of Capt. Enggon was handed over to the family and then immediately departed for the deceased's residence in East Ciputat.

Based on ANTARA's monitoring at the location, the funeral procession arrived at around 17.30 WIB. Relatives and family members of the victims were seen filling the funeral home.

They, one by one, paid their respects and expressed their condolences for the late's departure. In addition, a number of friends, colleagues of Capt. Enggono also took part in giving the last respects to the body.

Then, in front of the guests who paid their respects, an announcement was also made by the family so that no one would follow the opening of the coffin except for the core family of Capt. Anggon.

"The only people allowed to see the body for the last time are the family. Later we will open the coffin, so outside the family is not allowed to participate," he said.

Furthermore, after the opening of the coffin by the family as the last honor to the deceased, a series of funeral prayers was held at the Jami Al'Salam Mosque as the nearest location from the victim's house.

"After the magrib prayer, we will continue the process of funeral prayers, later please invite guests and families to participate in that stage," he said.

Previously, based on the statement of the Technical Director of General Aviation IPI, Capt. Willy Resoeboen, the two bodies of the pilot, Capt. Enggon and Co-pilot Capt. Baskoro of the Smart Air plane, were successfully evacuated by the joint TNI/Polri team.

Previously, Pilot Capt. Enggon and Co-pilot Capt. Baskoro were reported to have been shot dead by an armed criminal group (KKB) while landing at Korowai Airport from Tanah Merah, Doven Digoel Regency, South Papua.

The incident of shooting the pilot and co-pilot who carried 13 passengers occurred at around 11.00 WIT on Wednesday (11/2).
