SURABAYA - Member of the MPR RI and member of the DPD RI for East Java, AA LaNyalla Mahmud Mattaliti, emphasized that the Free Nutritional Meal (MBG) Program is not just a social agenda, but an economic redistribution strategy based on Pancasila. He conveyed this message during the socialization of the Four Pillars to the economic actors of the Surabaya City Kadin at Graha Kadin East Java, Wednesday (11/2/2026).
LaNyalla opened his presentation with the concept of Pancasila Economy according to Mohammad Hatta that the people's economy means opening opportunities and space for the people throughout Indonesia to participate in the rotation of the national economic wheel. Therefore, MBG should not be read as a program to feed students. "MBG is not just a 'meal plate', but a 'opportunity plate' for the people to participate in the procurement of goods and services in every region," he said.
He reminded that the circulation of MBG money should not be sucked back to the center. LaNyalla said Indonesia had been trapped in a Jakarta-centric pattern for too long. "Trillions of rupiah that had only circulated in SCBD Jakarta, now have to flow into markets in the regions, including in Surabaya. This is an opportunity and a task for Kadin to ensure that state money does not 'pass through', but settles and raises local entrepreneurs," he said.
LaNyalla explained three focuses, namely breaking Jakarta-centric for social justice, strengthening local food security, and prioritizing mutual cooperation by involving the Chamber of Commerce in the supply chain and program governance. He encouraged the supply of rice, eggs, meat, fish, vegetables, and fruits for the MBG kitchen to come from local farmers and ranchers, accompanied by support for warehousing, distribution, to a transparent digital monitoring system.
According to him, with this pattern, the Surabaya City Chamber of Commerce can help build local food self-sufficiency while making Surabaya a logistics hub for East Java and East Indonesia.
Chairman of the Surabaya City Chamber of Commerce HM Ali Affandi stated that the 2024-2029 management wanted to move faster and not bureaucratic. "Surabaya Chamber of Commerce in this period must move... Geopolitical changes are very fast, so we must also be responsive," he said. He emphasized that the Chamber of Commerce carries three pillars - economic drivers, business enablers, and strategic partners of the government - and targets itself to be a driving force for the regional economy so that the benefits of MBG are truly felt by local business actors.
