JAKARTA - The Bukit Batu Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG), Central Singkawang District, was temporarily deactivated following the alleged food poisoning in the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program experienced by dozens of students at the Singkawang Model MAN.

Head of SPPG Bukit Batu Maulidi Ikhsan said that the temporary suspension of operations had been in effect since Monday (9/2) based on the direction of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), with an undetermined deadline.

"Yes, the operation of SPPG Bukit Batu has been temporarily deactivated until further notice," said Maulidi in Singkawang, Tuesday, quoted by Antara.

He explained that this temporary suspension would be used by his party to carry out internal improvements and complete all the required requirements, while waiting for recommendations from the Singkawang City Health Office as a basis for resuming operations.

Before being deactivated, SPPG Bukit Batu served the distribution of MBG to 14 schools with more than 3,000 students receiving it every day.

"Seeing the response from the schools that we have served, we will try as quickly as possible to make improvements so that the kitchen can resume operations and MBG services can run normally," he said.

Meanwhile, the MBG Regional Coordinator for the City of Singkawang, Devi Rizkia, said that his party would apologize directly to the affected schools for the temporary suspension of MBG services from SPPG Bukit Batu.

"During the period of suspension of operations, the SPPG together with its partners or foundations will conduct a thorough evaluation and improvement as a preventive step forward," he said.

According to Devi, SPPG Bukit Batu is currently still waiting for a recommendation from the Singkawang City Health Office, which will then be forwarded to the provincial level to the center as a requirement to resume operations to serve the MBG program.
