JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump claims he is working hard to end the civil war in Sudan.

Trump delivered it at a 'National Prayer Breakfast' in Washington DC, Thursday, February 5.

"I'm working hard to end that war. We are very close to finishing it. It would be the ninth, if we don't finish the Russian-Ukrainian conflict first. But we are working hard to end the whole war. We are very close to doing it. We almost succeeded," he said as quoted by AN, Friday, February 6.

Trump first said he would begin "working" to end the war in Sudan in November 2025, after Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman asked him to help end the conflict during his visit to the US.

"Your Majesty wants me to do something very important related to Sudan," Trump said at the US-Saudi Arabia Investment Forum.

"It wasn't my plan to get involved in it, I think it was just something crazy and out of control," he added.

"But I see how important it is for you, and for many of your friends in this room, Sudan. And we're going to start working for Sudan," Trump continued.

Since breaking out in April 2023, the war between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has killed tens of thousands of people and displaced nearly 12 million.
