Asri Movement Launched, President Asked Regional Heads to Clean up Schools

JAKARTA - The President encourages the direct involvement of regional heads, schools, ministries, to SOEs in the Indonesia Asri Movement (Safe, Healthy, Resik, Beautiful), a clean-up movement emphasized in official government forums. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said the directive applies across levels of government.

"Mr. President has conveyed it. Regional heads, governors, regents, mayors, all of them, let's clean up," said Teddy at the Presidential Palace Complex, Tuesday (3/2). The directive also targets schools under the authority of provinces and regencies/cities.

The President asked ministries and SOEs to set an example. If the region has difficulties, support can involve the TNI. "Ministers set an example, ministries set an example. If you can't, the TNI," he said.

Teddy said that cleaning activities had been carried out previously, but now it was emphasized in a joint movement. The scope is not limited to government offices, but also the educational environment.

The issue of the ASRI Movement and garbage is indeed a concern for President Prabowo Subianto. He conveyed this at Sentul, Bogor when attending the National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) of the Central and Regional Governments in Sentul, Bogor, Monday (2/2). The Secretary of the Cabinet himself before meeting with reporters also led the ASRI Movement directly at the palace.
